5G SENS Platform

Sensors

The 5G SENS offers six integrated sensors for temperature, humidity, air pressure, 6-axis gyro sensor, light and GNSS location. The hardware was developed for different IoT use cases. Using scripts, the platform can be adapted to different requirements of IOT applications.

Connection of external sensors & data sources

There are three ways to connect external data sources to 5G SENS:

  • Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE),
  • GPIO ports (these are easily accessible via the device's USB-C port)
  • Modbus/RTU (only in conjunction with the IO-Box)

Cloud Connectivity

Mobile networks offer global coverage for seamless goods tracking based on NB-IoT and Cat-M1. For countries without these 3GPP networks, the tracker offers a GPRS fallback.

Exelonix offers all IOT products with or without connectivity.

Power Supply

5G SENS is available with two power options:

  • 3 AA batteries - best for long time operation (years), low message frequency and low temperatures below 0°C
  • 2.7 Ah rechargeable LiPo battery - ideal for applications with higher frequency of telemetry messages and charging cycles of up to one year.

5G SENS is optimized for long battery life. Battery life depends heavily on the actual use case, but typically between 3,000 and 5,000 telemetry messages can be transmitted to the cloud on a single battery charge.

Typical 5G SENS use cases

  • Temperature monitoring
  • Outdoor tracking (using GNSS)
  • Indoor positioning (via BLE)
  • Construction machinery sensor
  • Valve status sensor
